FOOD PROGRAM

Pine Forest Children’s Center participates in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and employs a chef who creates breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack each day from our on-site kitchen. PFFC Children are automatically enrolled in the food program at 6 weeks old and the cost is included in tuition fees.  We serve two nutritious meals and one snack daily. Therefore, it’s not necessary to send food with your child. Pine Forest offers nutritious meals that comply with USDA regulations and the CACFP.  We encourage children to try new foods regularly.  Meals are served family-style, with older children serving themselves.  No child is forced to eat, and foods will not be withheld or used as a reward.

Breakfast and afternoon snacks are on a two week rotation while lunches are a 6-8 week rotation. We strive to provide children with organic foods when possible and serve local Booth Brothers milk. We utilize Upper Valley Produce, Costco and local grocery stores such as Healthy Living and Price Chopper to procure food each week. From June until October we participate in the Intervale Gleaning Program which provides fresh, locally grown produce for our program. We try to support children with food allergies in our program by providing alternate meals and substitutions.

PFFC is a PEANUT-SAFE center. Peanut allergies can be life threatening, and children with these allergies may react to even tiny traces of peanut on another child’s hands. Please be sure to note any allergies/food preferences on the admission sheet and provide whatever “emergency medicine” is required.
